Purple Yoga Website

Refreshing a yoga studio’s website to feel welcoming and inclusive

The Goal

Update the website with a more approachable tone and a streamlined navigation experience.

During the pandemic, Purple Yoga, like many fitness clubs across the U.S. were facing shut-downs, addressing changes in venue, and advertising how they were addressing safety concerns. It was more important than ever that their website, being the first touchpoint for many clients, was welcoming and easy to use.

Information architecture

Untangling the spaghetti

The site’s structure was a tangled web of overlapping and duplicate content—like a plate of spaghetti. To simplify, I consolidated and reorganized the information architecture to align with clients’ mental models.

Project details

  • Purple Yoga needed a simpler, more user-friendly website that could be used to promote more offerings like workshops, retreats, and teacher training.

  • From kick-off to launch, this project took place over 4 months in the Summer of 2021. It was live until December 2024 and then redesigned again in-house.

  • I audited the site, mapped out the new information architecture and page content. I also created all the graphics using existing photography. I also consolidated and rewrote copy to have a simpler, more approachable tone. Squarespace was my best friend in this redesign and did the hard part.
